Officers later found a suspect vehicle in the area of 21st Street South and Mingo Road. Police pulled the car over and arrested a suspect, identified only as an 18-year-old Hispanic man, who was later identified by the victims.
About two hours later, officers responded to Hicks Park in the 3400 block of south Mingo Road to a reported shooting. A victim was reportedly found at the nearby Heatherstone apartment complex in the 3200 block of south Mingo Road who had been shot while in a car in the park.
The victim was reportedly in an altercation with the three suspects, described as 17-year-old mixed-race men, when one of them pulled a handgun and fired into the victim’s car door.
One round went inside the car and grazed the victim in the lower leg, according to a media release. He was treated at the scene and reportedly refused further treatment.
