Construction will kick off today on Uber’s new high-rise office in Dallas’ Deep Ellum district.

Westdale Real Estate Investment and Management – developer of the 8-acre Epic development – execs from Uber and Texas governor Greg Abbott will be at the project on Pacific Avenue for the groundbreaking.

The 23-story, 470,000-square-foot office tower will house thousands of Uber workers when it opens in late 2022.

The office tower being built eastern edge of downtown is a project of Westdale Properties and developer KDC.

The offices and parking garage together will total over 1.1 million square feet and were designed by architect Perkins and Will.

Uber plans to eventually house 3,000 workers in the tower and an existing 16-story building next door.

The buildings are part of the mixed-use Epic development, which also includes apartments and retail space. Construction is underway on a 26-story, 310-unit apartment tower and the 165-room Pittman Hotel.

Uber is getting almost $36 million in economic incentives for the new Dallas office.
