A Boston woman is facing assault and battery charges after she attacked the driver of the rideshare vehicle she ordered, according to the MBTA’s Transit Police Department. Transit police say one of their officers was stopped for a red light at the intersection of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Southampton Street in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood at about 11:45 p.m. Friday when he heard a woman screaming for help. While the officer tried to figure out where the screaming was coming from, a vehicle pulled up next to him. The driver of that vehicle was screaming for help and the officer reported seeing a passenger in the back seat who was violently attacking the driver. Transit police say the officer immediately exited his vehicle and took action to stop the assault. The passenger, identified as 62-year-old Charlotte Beasley, was taken into custody. The rideshare driver, a 37-year-old woman, told the transit police officer that she was sent to pick up Beasley and once she did, Beasley suddenly began to violently assault and beat her without provocation. Transit police did not reveal whether the rideshare driver suffered any serious injuries. Beasley was taken to MBTA Transit Police Headquarters to be booked.
